Our shared studio space. Designed by Uglycute and photographed by Erik Wåhlström.

Since the foundation in 20062 after graduating from Beckmans Collage of Design and Gerrit Rietveld Academie, we work on commissioned and self initiated projects, most often for paper or screen.3

In collaboration with programmer Martin Ström we are responsible for a series of Internet based projects — such as Copypastecharacter.com and linkli.st.

Together with theorist Jeff Kinkle and artist Emanuel Almborg, we co-run on-and-off publisher Andperseand,4 at times publishing books in physical and digital form on a variety of topics. We also host Show & Tell, an online calendar with lectures and book releases in Stockholm, and occasionally teach and give lectures.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or are interested in a commission, collaboration or studio visit!

Mattias & Peter

  1. Our name comes from a text we once read — but can’t seem to find again — on the word ‘design’ and how it was introduced as a way to describe the gap in-between art and technology. The name also pays tribute to long gone Berlin techno club Kunst und Technik, where we spend many nights in the early 00s.
  2. But as collaborators (and friends) we go back to the mid 90s, when we as teenagers got in touch at an online forum, both sharing interest in the typeface Barmeno...
  3. For example: Catalogues, posters, books, graphic identities and websites. We have also worked on TV-intros, exhibition design, car graphics and other projects over the years.
  4. Andperseand refers to Ampersand, the word for the ‘&’-character, which in itself comes from the words And Per Se And; ‘and [the symbol which] by itself [is] and’.
